A public grievance redressal camp was held on 25.11.2024 (Monday) under the leadership of the Chengalpattu District Collector. During this camp, we raised the following issues:
Despite all interviews being completed through the Urban Housing Development Board, housing allocation orders have not been issued to persons with disabilities on the waiting list for over three years.
Free housing land deeds and free two-cent plots have not been provided to the waiting beneficiaries.
We urged the authorities to take prompt action on these matters and also requested arrangements for disability welfare benefits in village panchayats across Chengalpattu district, including Perungalathur, Tambaram, Achirapakkam, and Madurantakam.
On behalf of the December 3 Movement and the Rights Association of Persons with Disabilities (Chengalpattu district administration), we submitted our grievances and demands in writing through an official letter to the District Collector. The Collector instructed the relevant authorities to resolve these issues quickly and recommended providing updates to us.
Participants:
District General Secretary Murali, District Treasurer Baby Mary, District Executive Committee Member Nagaraj, Tambaram Union Secretary Devikala, and 30 persons with disabilities. Together, we submitted written grievances.
